The challenge

The team at the University of Hertfordshire began an initiative to provide the different Schools of study with high-quality video content. This would showcased what each department has to offer in a visually consistent way.

In the space of five months, we produced promotional films for 16 different Schools at the University. Subjects ranged from adult nursing to business, social work to maths, law to psychology. This was a huge film-production undertaking which would revolutionise video content across the University’s digital channels.

The process

We collaborated with the University to create briefs for the different Schools of study. We wanted to demonstrated each School's USPs in scenario-based visuals that showed, rather than told, prospective students what they could expect. These would encourage prospective students to find out more and apply.

Each film was captured in a single day and incorporated five scenarios covering work-based, independent-study, extra curricular and post-graduate activities. The aim of each film is for the audience to get a taste of life as a University of Hertfordshire student and learn more about the possible career paths that could follow their studies.

The solution

By creating a flexible film treatment, the project was kept manageable without each film losing individuality. The result? 16 films that provide the University with a consistent visual identity and content that engages with the target market and encourage the viewer to find out more information. Clearhead continue to be a preferred supplier for the University.

To celebrate the launch of the new ‘City Sight & The Roberta Williams Centre’, Clearhead were commissioned to produce a short promotional film that gives insight into the benefits of the centre, what current and potential students can gain from the new environment and why City University are industry-leaders in the optometry and speech therapy research and educational fields.
