Women into STEAM Virtual Event

The Solution

The Women into Steam Virtual Event. Over 1,000 students registered for the event across 36 schools in Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and the feedback received was fantastic. Teachers enjoyed the fact that students could access real-life careers information without having to travel a long way to get it and pupils commented on learning about the wide variety of work scientists do and how there are multiple ways of solving a problem.

Animation

At the heart of the live event was an introduction to STEAM animation. Designed to introduce students to what STEAM is and what it means as a new way of learning through innovation. Thinking outside of the box in order to change the world for good we gave context of STEAM via career options to inspire students about the endless opportunities. Built on our design foundation of the blueprint we were able to develop a whiteboard approach to introducing illustrated assets and animating them as we journeyed across our blue schematic.

Using live links and pre-recorded content we were able to create interest and momentum and the Q & A platform gave attendees direct signposting routes and the opportunity to have their voices heard.

Utilising the very versatile YouTube as the delivery platform and also the main Q&A platform. Questions came in regularly throughout the 5 hour event.

Setting up a legacy ‘virtual event’ page has allowed teachers and students post event access to all the great information shared by leading employers of STEAM graduates and the University of Northampton.
